Tuolumne Trails – A Camp for Me  – is located just outside the historic Gold-rush town of Groveland, on the way to Yosemite National Park.

We have a variety of hotel and restaurant facilities nearby for parents and friends coming to visit campers. In addition, you may want to add time on before or after the camp session to explore the wonders of the California Sierra.  Here are some resources:

Restaurants in Groveland:

  • Cocina Michoacana - Great authentic Mexican food.

  • Iron Door Saloon - Good grill food at a reasonable price, plus the fun of California’s oldest saloon.

  • Groveland Hotel - Fine dining in Groveland.

  • Cafe Charlotte - A hit with the locals; good food, fairly priced served in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.

  • Pine Mountain Lake Country Club – Beautiful location overlooking the golf course, open to the public on weekends.

Sightseeing:

Yosemite –  Located just 20 miles beyond the camp, Yosemite National Park is the jewel of the Sierra.  Highlights of the park include Yosemite Valley, and its high cliffs and waterfalls; Wawona's history center and historic hotel; the Mariposa Grove, which contains hundreds of ancient giant sequoias; Glacier Point's  spectacular view of Yosemite Valley and the high country; Tuolumne Meadows, a large subalpine meadow surrounded by mountain peaks; and Hetch Hetchy, a reservoir in a nearby valley considered a twin of Yosemite Valley. www.nps.gov/yose/

Murphys – Known as the Queen of the Sierra, Murphys is a quaint and charming goldrush-era town replete with well-preserved historic buildings, and lots of shops, restaurants and wineries.  www.visitmurphys.com/

Columbia State Park –  Columbia State Historic Park is the best preserved of California’s famous goldrush towns. Visit today and go back in time to the 1850s. www.columbiacalifornia.com/

Railtown 1897  Located in Jamestown, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is home to one of America’s last authentic, operating railroad roundhouses. Known as “The Movie Railroad,” Railtown’s locomotives and cars have appeared in over 200 film and TV productions. www.csrmf.org/railtown/

Tuolumne River Described by river experts as one of the most challenging and beautiful river runs in California the main Tuolumne River is a scenic 18-mile journey. It passes through lands managed by the United States Department of Agriculture - Forest Service and the United States Department of the Interior - Bureau of Land Management. www.fs.fed.us/r5/stanislaus/groveland/river.shtml

Pine Mountain Lake Airport –  this is the general aviation airport at Groveland, just four miles from the camp. There is a restaurant on the field, and transient tie-downs, but no rental cars. www.airnav.com/airport/E45
